Backend Software Engineer

Hello. As-salaam alaikum. Hola. Bonjour. Xin chao. Konnichiwa. Namaste. Ciao. Ola. Hallo. Merhaba. Shalom. Hej. Ahoj. Jambo. Sawubona. Habari. Ndewo. Sain uu. Sat sri akal. Privet. I'm Tahmid Chowdhury.

I build backend systems with TypeScript, NestJS, and a focus on clarity and reliability.

I turn messy integrations and data flows into systems teams can rely on.

About

A little about me

I’m a backend-focused software engineer who likes making complex systems feel simple, steady, and useful.

At Victaulic, I help modernize internal platforms into cleaner, more scalable services using NestJS, Angular, SQL, and Azure. A lot of that work means untangling legacy systems, improving background jobs, and making integrations easier for teams to depend on.

I’m also building AISeq, where I lead the architecture of a wellness genomics platform with TypeScript, PostgreSQL, Prisma, and clean architecture. That work includes shaping versioned data models and building APIs around structured, workflow-driven experiences.

The common thread in my work is backend systems: APIs, workflows, integrations, and data-heavy platforms that need to stay understandable as they grow.

Outside of engineering, I like traveling, photography, and cars, especially older BMWs and Porsches. I also enjoy working on my own E46, which probably says a lot about how much I like understanding how things are put together.

Currently

What I’m focused on right now

Backend platform work

I’m especially interested in backend and platform roles where APIs, integrations, and reliability really matter.

Thoughtful systems

I like work that sits between product and engineering, where clean architecture has to support real teams and real workflows.

NYC-area opportunities

I’m currently most focused on backend engineering opportunities in NYC and Jersey City.

Experience

What I’m working on

Victaulic

Software Engineer

May 2022 — Present

I build and improve internal platforms that support logistics, operations, and finance workflows across distributed teams.

  • I build backend APIs and background jobs with NestJS, TypeScript, and SQL
  • I refactor legacy systems into services that are easier to maintain
  • I troubleshoot distributed systems and production integrations
  • I turn business requirements into practical backend solutions

AISeq

Co-Founder & Head of Engineering

Nov 2025 — Present

I lead the architecture and development of a wellness genomics platform from the backend outward.

  • I design the backend architecture with TypeScript, PostgreSQL, and Prisma
  • I build workflow-driven APIs and authentication systems
  • I define clear system boundaries for AI-assisted features
  • I design versioned data models that can evolve cleanly over time

I also bring earlier experience in BPM and financial systems from my time at Savana.

Projects

A few things I’ve built

Case Study · Personal Project

BankStack

View GitHub

A Plaid-powered finance backend that brings accounts, transactions, and payoff planning together in one place.

NestJS TypeScript PostgreSQL Prisma Plaid

Outcome: Pulls financial activity and repayment planning into one clearer workflow.

  • Built NestJS APIs with TypeScript, PostgreSQL, and Prisma
  • Connected Plaid for account linking, balance sync, and transaction ingestion
  • Modeled debt workflows and planning logic around real financial data

A sentiment analysis app that turns financial news and Reddit chatter into ticker-level signals.

Next.js FastAPI TypeScript Python Docker

Outcome: Makes noisy news and social sentiment easier to scan by ticker and trend.

  • Built a Next.js and FastAPI app for ingestion, scoring, and analysis
  • Aggregated news and Reddit data through reusable API pipelines
  • Added background processing, caching, and VADER-based sentiment scoring

Enterprise Integration Platform

Internal

An internal platform for keeping manufacturing and construction data in sync across business systems.

Angular NestJS Azure Service Bus Autodesk Forge MuleSoft

Outcome: Helps teams rely on faster, cleaner data flow across internal and external systems.

  • Split a tightly coupled monorepo into separate frontend and backend services
  • Modernized the stack from Node 12, Angular 11, and NestJS 7 to current versions
  • Built event-driven integrations with Azure Service Bus, Autodesk Forge, and MuleSoft
  • Improved reliability by fixing production issues and refactoring legacy flows
